Crane Selection
How Do You Know What Size Crane You Need?

Most customers ask for the smallest crane to save money — we get it. But crane selection isn't just about the weight of the load. It's about getting the job done safely, the first time, without surprises.

⚖️
Load Weight
What are you lifting? Get the actual weight — include rigging hardware, spreader bars, and attachments.
📏
Lift Radius
How far from the crane does the load need to go? The farther the reach, the less a crane can lift. A 100-ton crane at full extension might only lift 10 tons.
📐
Lift Height
How high does the load need to go? Taller lifts require more boom, which affects capacity and stability.
🚧
Site Access
Road width, overhead power lines, soft ground, slopes, and tight spaces all affect which crane can physically get to the work area.
🏗️
Ground Conditions
Cranes need solid, level ground. Soft soil, gravel, or slopes may require matting, outrigger pads, or a different configuration.
🌬️
Wind & Obstructions
Power lines, buildings, trees, and weather all affect boom angle, swing radius, and safe lifting capacity.

Not sure what you need? That's what we're here for.

When you call, we'll ask about your job — not just the weight. We'll recommend the right crane based on ALL the factors. Getting it right the first time saves you money, time, and headaches. That's how we've done it for 56 years.
